The Pacific Islander II is an ocean freighter shipping to islands in the South Pacific.
On the 18th December the vessel was the first to approach volcano-struck Tonga for a planned delivery, but due to the eruption did not and reputed to Suva instead.
A feature of note of this vessel are the built in cranes, facilitating loading and unloading containers without needing dockside cranes. Any wharf deep enough to take the draft of the vessel will do for docking. This is great advantage delivering to South Pacific islands with frequently very limited dock facilities.
