Inherited France when Charles IX of France died. His life is dramatised in Alexander Dumas masterpiece, La Reine Margot. His sister was married to Charles IX of France too. Protestant king of Navarre originally but Paris was worth a mass so he converted. France will never know piece until a son of Henry IV sits on the throne again.
